100/1 Roulette: A Unique Concept, How Does It Hold Out?

Do you want something different? Well, you’re in luck – 100/1 Roulette certainly offers quite a unique concept. We were rather surprised when we first found it in Grosvenor casino a few years ago, and it has since become one of our favourite alternatives to traditional roulette. As the name suggests, here you will find 100 numbered sectors rather than the 36 you are used to. This totally skews the odds of winning – but also means that the payouts are much larger. The roulette ‘wheel’ is so big, that is looks more like the Coliseum in Rome. Don’t expect to see this beast doing any spinning whatsoever. All to all, the game is great fun, and somehow the 100/1 odds make it even more exhilarating than regular roulette. This Nyx title can be somewhat hard to find, but Grosvenor still have it in their catalogue – they also offer no less than 20 other roulette titles, so you can always pick a game that suits your mood.

Even though 100/1 Roulette is fairly unique in its concept, it is still fairly easy to play. The game is very straightforward, and you will not find anything that you haven’t seen and tried in other online roulette games. However, the bets are very different, and so are the payouts. In the next parts of our review you can read all that you need to know before you try your hand at the 100 to 1 odds. Keep in mind that you should approach this roulette a little differently from a regular wheel – statistically, raising the number of sectors changes things significantly! Let’s find out how.

As you can see, 100/1 Roulette is very easy to play. The graphics could be a little better, but we’ve recently been spoiled by Microgaming’s fancy Premier Roulette. All to all, the production qualities here are of good value, you get your traditional sound effects, and the interface is very intuitive and easy to use. The betting area might seem a little overwhelming at first with all the 105 sectors, but you get used to navigating it rather quickly. Watching the ball roll across the huge track is very nice, though it is hard to track with bad lighting – going by Premier Roulette again, a video zoom might have been a handy feature. But graphics aside, let’s move on to more important matters – it’s time to take a look at the payouts!

Explaining the Unique Layout of 100/1 Roulette

105 sectors do make a significant difference in roulette – any kid will tell you that this makes the odds of guessing the winning number much, much lower. Naturally, this means that you also get much larger payouts here. As the title advertises, a single sector has a payout of 100 times your bet. This increase affects all other Inside and Outside bets – if you check the Payout Table, you will see that a Split offers you a 49:1 win, while a fifteen-number bet (avenue) has a 11:2 return. The only bets that are not changed from regular roulette are odds/evens and red/black, which still offer a 1:1 win. However, these outside bets are not always such a good idea here – in 100/1 roulette, there are 5 green sectors scattered across the enormous wheel! These sectors feature different geometrical figures, but you should just consider them as 0s. The RTP here is estimated to be between 92.86% and 96.19%, depending on the player’s strategy. This is in the low end for roulette – but if you were looking for the best statistical odds, you would already be off to a French Roulette table.

What 100/1 roulette does offer is the chance to net very significant winnings. The top prize is capped at the staggering £100,000, which is comparable with the progressive jackpots in some slots. You have a very flexible betting range, which allows you to place wagers varying from 10 pence to 10,000 pounds. This makes the game a good choice for high-rollers, though they would be somewhat constrained in betting on single numbers. However, it is the low minimum bet that we have grown to love throughout the years. When you are still learning roulette, a high minimum bet requirement can greatly limit your options. However, the low bets have made 100/1 Roulette and NYX’s other innovative creation, 20p Roulette, extremely popular. The freedom that this simple rule change offers you is truly priceless!

So, Will You Bet Real Money at 100/1?

100/1 Roulette is very different from the regular casino variety, so we usually advise online players to try it at least once – you won’t find it in a land-based casino after all. It is a game that we tend to avoid for longer sessions because of the lower RTP, but if you are in the mood for thrills, then you should know that the wins here somehow taste sweeter! Grosvenor Casino remains our favourite venue for this game – our reviewers have been frequenting it for many years, so it came as no surprise when it turned into one of the most recognised and celebrated online casino brands in the world. Naturally, you should decide on your own whether this wacky roulette is your cup of tea. And if not, you could always take advantage of our guide to the best online roulette sites and games and pick a different roulette variation.
